Very evocative shot, Ellen. The contrasts are wonderful, in multiple ways.

I really love this shot. Very moody, very tender, very sweet.

A wonderful and curious find! You managed a very uncluttered background which adds to the melancholy feel. And your desaturated processing is perfect for the scene. I really love this.

As I looked at this photo, I felt myself choking up. From the dates, it’s clearly the grave of a child; and more than a century later, someone cared enough to leave a teddy bear. Your processing highlights the sense of melancholy.

Old graves/ grave stones are so interesting and give rise to so many more questions. Your processing is perfect for the mood of the shot.

Wow – very provocative photo. Interesting how the bear’s fur matches the headstone – aren’t toy bears usually brown?
I think it’s a more sweet photo than sad…this thought that someone remembered this person and cared enough to share a comforting toy is a nice gesture.

So interesting, I would love to know the story behind that – I’m sure there is one.

Wonderful shot; I like old cemetaries. the bear really is odd there. Really like the tone.

Sad but sweet, this photo depicts different emotions.

Brings tears to my eyes. After all, like a writer, a photographer’s job is to evoke emotions – regardless of what kind of emotions. Once that is done, the artist’s job is done too.
(That’s not original with me. I learned this little gem in the writer’s group I attended while living in the Seattle.) Swell presentation.

The element of irony here with the ancient tombstone and the teddy bear is great. Interesting photo.

What a really sad picture, but it tells a story – you instantly want to know the who, why, age, etc. Very thought provoking! Nice!
